About the Author
Charles E. Orser, Jr., Research Professor at Vanderbilt University, is an anthropological historical archaeologist who investigates the modern world as it was created after about 1492. He is the author of over 90 professional articles and a number of books, has conducted excavations in the United States, Europe, and South America. . His research interests include post-Columbian historical archaeology; practice, network, and socio-spatial theory; enslavement; globalization and consumerism; social inequality, discrimination, and poverty. His regional interest is the Atlantic world, and his current project focuses on the early seventeenth-century Puritan colony on the island of Providencia, Colombia.

No translator or credits.

It looks like someone printed this off their computer and stuck it in a crappy book after I ordered it.(It's dated for the day I ordered it in the back.) What a waste of money. There is no credit to the translator, or even a publishing company. How am I supposed to cite this for school? As far as I can tell, Xenophon, who died 2400 years ago, translated and published this version. Unreal that Amazon backs this garbage.

This book is timely and its thoughts contained within are truly what this world is both searching for and lacking in. If we were willing, we could adapt this wisdom to their daily lives, the world would DEFINATELY be a wonderful place to live. Everyday of our lives are a learning experience and if we could come together, without judgement, we could appreciate what both Jesus and the Goddess have to share with us in our lives. As the author, I too found something lacking, and he so eloquently brought the both together. I share his vision of having both in my life. The hope of acceptance, love, and honor of having the Goddess and Jesus, both complimenting each other in our lives. This is a MUST read.

Exceptional

Comforting and inspiring, "Embracing Jesus and the Goddess" is one of the finest books on comparative religion ever written. Highly recommended for both Christians and Wiccans, as well as those who walk both paths and embrace both faiths.

Regarding one of the previous comments about abandoning what Christ said, I think that reviewer is confusing what some of Jesus' followers wrote and said instead of what Jesus himself said. I believe that reviewer needs to re-read the Gospels and pay close attention to the words of Jesus only.

If you walk a Christian/Wiccan path, this book is required. I found great peace in this book's pages...thank you Mr. McColman for your wise, healing words.

Good Introduction

As someone who was seeking a workable syncretization of Goddess Tradition and Christianity, I just had to have this book.

The author himself had some of the same concerns I had regarding Pagan male divinities, and their lack of depth. Jesus, to my mind, has no equal

in Paganism when it comes to Love, Compassion, and Wisdom. The Goddess within for example Wicca, has taken over these attributes, and has left the god as

a sort of help mate, with very little to do. That being said, the Author really stretches and misses some key points about Religion and the use of

Mythology within it. Another review has touched on this so I won't here. What I want to inform the prospective reader of is that this author has

Adorable and creative children's book.

My kids, ages 4 and 5, really enjoyed this book. My daughter asked me to read it to her three times the day we got it. The Beast is a sweet character that the kids immediately loved, the illustrations are wonderful, and the story is fun, a little silly, and very endearing. Your kids will enjoy it and so will you.

Synopsis: The Beast feels lonely one day and goes on a trek over many terrains and through the ocean looking for more Beasts. He eventually finds some friendly people in the big city, whom he likes but he soon begins to miss his old home and heads back. The Beast finds a fun surprise waiting for him when he finally returns home.

When a rare beast becomes lonely, he sets out to find more beasts. Traveling through all sorts of environments, the beast walks and walks until he finds a city. People in the city visit the beast and he talks on the radio and television, not to mention in the paper, but the beast still feels lonely and he misses his home. The beast travels back through all of the environments, only to discover that his fellow beasts, lonely, too, had come to find him in his garden. Children ages 4-7 will appreciate this story of being different and finding home and friends.

A delightful book in every way. The illustrations appealed to me as much as to my son and daughter. Others have summarized the book well, so I will only add my voice cheering Mr. Judge, and asking him for more great books!

Misleading

This book isn't about Sikh spiritualism it's about an American diverted practice of yoga with Sikh roots. Most of this book is based on that and not on Sikh principles. If you believe as I do from reading on Sikhism that Yoga isn't a mach for Sikh ideals then this book will upset you as it did me.

This is the best introduction to the Sikh faith that I have found. Perhaps that is because it is written by a westerner but the information is clear and able to be applied if the reader is interested. I highly reccommend this fascinating discussion of a beautiful religion that is widely unknown.
